Hattie Douglass

Hattie Douglass

Hattie Douglass Stone
1878-1936

I was happy to see this picture of a young Hattie Douglass. I had found her diaries so interesting. She was a woman of strong personality and one sees that in her firm mouth and intense eyes. I can picture her now, living in the old James Douglass homestead on Pillar Point, in the shadow of all those ancestors who lived there before her.
In 1900 Hattie was a school teacher and this photo was taken about that time. She married Edward Stone in 1901.
The back of the picture says “Hattie Douglas – For Mrs. Patrick”
Mrs. Patrick would have been Grace McAfee Patrick, Hattie’s first cousin.
