Charles Sugden was born July 20, 1870 in Stratford, Ontario, the oldest child of Noah and Susannah Sibbald Sugden. He was educated in the local schools in Uxbridge and after the family moved to Winnipeg in 1882, in the schools there. He became a practicing physician, continued his medical education in Minneapolis and Chicago and served for many years as the medical superintendent of Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, a Salvation Army Hospital for maternity patients. He married Kate Hynde, a widow with two children, and maintained an office in his home at 391 Kennedy St., Winnipeg until he died May 12, 1924.
Charles and Kate had two children: Charles Russell and Dorothy.
