Henry Robert McAfee, born June 4, 1843, in the Town of Brownville, New York state, was the youngest son of Archibald and Margaret McAfee of Ireland. Two days before Christmas in 1863, he enlisted in the army and served in Company H, 186th NY Infantry until he was mustered out in August 1865. He married Delia Douglass, daughter of J. Chester Douglass and Lucilda Cady, February 4, 1869, at the Ferry on Pillar Point, Town of Brownville. They lived on a farm in the Town of Brownville until March 1906 when they moved to the village of Dexter. Henry died March 9, 1911. He and his wife are buried in Dexter cemetery.
Henry and Delia had five children: Chester, Luta (mar. Albert Ash), Grace (mar. James “Bert” Patrick), Mary (mar. Eugene Flack) and Florence (mar. Wm. Gilmore).
